How far is it to the nearest sandy beach?
Four blocks to Pacific Beach. There are good looking life guards sitting up in their towers and public toilet and shower facilities. There is a nice wide boardwalk along the beach for walking, jogging , skating and bicycling. Or you can run or walk right on the sand for miles! You can go from Mission Beach jetty to Bird Rock in South La Jolla on the beach! The surfing is great along this stretch and there are even special exclusive areas such as
Tourmaline Surf Park for “longboarders.”

Is there private parking?
Yes, there is a private garage so you don’t have to fight for a parking place near the beach!

Are there restaurants, grocery stores and shopping nearby?
Henry’s, which is like a Whole Foods or Wild Oats, a large health-minded grocery store is practically across the street. They make great sandwiches at their deli. Trader Joes is across the street from Henery's. Within 6 blocks is a Ralph’s Grocery Store and a Von’s, a Save-On, Food 4 Less and Thrifty Drug Store. There is literally every type of ethnic food you could imagine on Garnet and Grand and lots of great seafood places along the beach. You could eat at a different restaurant every night for a month easily without getting in your car. Lots of shops along Garnet and on Mission Blvd along the beach.

Is it quiet?
I would not consider this place quiet during the summer nights, especially on the weekends and holidays. It’s close to the “main drag” in Pacific Beach, Garnet, with all its bars and nightclubs. It’s a very popular hangout for college students and young professionals in their 20’s and early 30s. I have installed high quality
dual pane windows in the apartment so if the apartment is closed up it’s pretty quiet but if it’s unusually hot and you have the windows and doors open at night, it’s not “quiet” until after the bars close. You might want to be out there on Garnet with everyone else on Fri and Sat night anyway, right? If you want quiet, see my oceanfront and bay front condos.

Is there someplace where I can buy organic food nearby?
Henry’s Market (similar to Whole Foods or Wild Oats) carries a nice variety of Organic foods and produce as well as free-range chicken and eggs and antibiotic-free meats. It’s a half a block away. Probably the best organic food market in San Diego is Ocean Beach People’s Organic Co-Op Foods Market, about 3 miles away. OB has some restaurants that serve only organic food ,also.

I just wanted to tell you about a couple outstanding healthy-type restaurants nearby.
Cafe 976 on Felspar at Cass (towards the beach) is a little house with a nice outside garden. It serves excellent, healthy food in a nice atmosphere. Jewell used to perform there and lived in her van outside the restaurant. They have only a limited dinner menu but good for breakfast and lunch. The Mission on Mission Blvd (maybe a mile away) only serves breakfast and lunch but has a very interesting and large menu of healthy vegetarian choices. It's very popular on the weekend mornings. Henry's market is caddy-corner to the apartment and Trader Joes is across the street from it, both on Garnet. Ocean Beach, about 4 miles away, still retains a hippie flavor to it and has a farmer's market every Wed afternoon, People's Market for all organic produce, and also a great little all organic restaurant on Santa Monica street (only open for lunch) and several vegetarian restaurants, including Rancho for Mexican food on Sunset Cliffs.

My favorite seafood restaurant in the area is "Nicks at the Beach". It's only about a mile away and they have a very interesting menu. I like the mustard-crusted salmon. They have tortilla-lime incrusted halibut and lots of other interesting things. Their rolls are to die for and the veggies are excellent, never overcooked or soggy. They have garlic mashed potatoes that are the best.  There is a card for Nick's on the desk.

Anthony's seafood Grotto is also very good (especially their high priced "Star of the Sea" room.  The Fish Market is excellent. It's near Sea Port Village. The Marine Room in La  Jolla is also excellent but pricy and right on the ocean, so close that they end up having to
rebuild it every 10 year or so due to damage from high waves.

Why is it so inexpensive?
Because it is a modest apartment located 4 blocks from the beach, not right on the beach or bay. You don’t have the nice water views but you still get the great weather! If you want views, see my oceanfront and bay front condos!

How far is it from the airport?
8 miles, 20 minutes driving time (without any holiday airport traffic).

To: 3225 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101

How far is it to
Downtown San Diego, the Gas Lamp District?
It’s abut 20 minutes, 9 miles. Old Town, with its great Mexican Restaurants is about half way to Downtown, just off the 5 freeway. How far is it to SeaWorld? Driving to SeaWorld takes longer than driving from SeaWorld. MapQuest says its 5 miles, 14 minutes driving time to get there and it’s probably half that to come back.

How far is it to La Jolla?
About 3 to 4 miles, depending on what part of La Jolla you are going to.

Is there Cable TV and Internet?
Yes, we have cable TV and High-Speed Cable Internet and a wireless internet connection so if you have a laptop with an Ethernet connection or card, bring it along and surf the web. PB has lots of cafes, coffee shops and restaurants with WiFi.

I have a very well behaved dog that doesn’t shed and hardly ever barks. Can you make an exception to your No Pet Policy?
No. Many people are allergic to pet dander and pet hair and, even
though we keep the condo spotlessly clean, we don’t want to subject any unsuspecting guests to an allergic reaction. You might try looking for a place in Ocean Beach. There is a “Doggy Beach” there so many places accept dogs.

Do I need to rent a car?
There is not very good public transportation in San Diego and most people do rent a car but if you love to walk or want to just relax near the beach/bay area and not do the full San Diego tourist scene, there are plenty of shops, grocery stores and restaurants, probably everything you would need, within easy walking distance of this apartment, on Garnet, Grand and Mission Blvd, the main Streets of Pacific Beach. A taxi from the airport should be about $20 with a tip. There are busses that come down Garnet and Mission Blvd.
