Below you will find details about our 5 bed/ 3.5 bath vacation home, Quiet Oaks Manor, located in the mountains of Julian in San Diego county.
 
Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul,” John Muir said. Just an hour NE of San Diego in the beautiful Cuyamaca National Forest, Quiet Oaks Manor House is tucked away amongst tall pines and oak trees, on 10 private and serene acres, about 4 miles from the quaint historical gold rush town of Julian, CA.  Explore the beautifully landscaped and natural grounds and discover your own favorite secret places from a lounge chair under one of the 5 umbrellas by the large pool and spa, to a comfy rocking chair in the gazebo. Contemplate nature in a willow chair under the willow arbor or take in the panoramic views and soaring birds of prey from the viewing deck. Walk around the grounds on nature trails and listen to the wind rustle the pine needles, play horseshoes or ping pong or stroll in the small fruit tree orchard with cherries, almonds, pomegranates, nectarines, figs, pears, apples and plums (help yourself if there is fruit!) You will delight at the English garden landscaping around the house complete with a pond where you can see wildlife such as deer, foxes and wild turkeys come to drink. 

The Manor House

A picture is worth a thousand words, so the best way to describe this incredibly beautiful 5000 square foot five bedroom/three and a half bath home is to invite you to watch the interactive video tour and to read the descriptions under the still photos. They will take you on a walking tour through the house starting in the lovely used-brick entry capped by a magnificent stained glass window. Turn right into the great room with its fabulous hand-planed Hickory wood floors, 35 foot high beamed ceilings and double-paned French windows and doors that lead out onto a deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee and perhaps see some of the deer and wild turkeys that roam the property. Bask in the warmth of the large wood-burning fireplace (we provide the wood but it also has gas for easy starting). There are 2 dining tables, one for 8 and one for 4, and a large TV inside a built-in cabinet. A convenient powder room is just off the great room.  
 
Enter through the high used brick archway into the fully equipped gourmet kitchen with a 10 foot solid wood island. Like to cook? The gourmet Viking stove has 6 burners with a griddle/grill in the middle and two stoves below. There are two sinks and two refrigerators. Share breakfast or lunch at the built-in breakfast nook that easily seats 11. The laundry room is right off the kitchen.
The sumptuous master suite is a place you will want to linger with it’s 35 foot high beamed ceiling, French doors that open out onto a deck, pool view, separate sitting area and a table for two. The California King bed has a Select Comfort mattress so you can choose your own firmness. The master bath features a large glass shower, antique-style claw foot tub, double sinks and a separate room for the toilet.

Two more bedrooms and a shared bathroom with two sinks and a glass shower complete the main floor. One has a pillow top queen bed and the other has two single beds, which can be made into a king bed if requested ahead of time. All bedrooms have individual heating and cooling units with adjustable fans, black out window treatments, extra pillows, comforters and luxurious 1,500 thread count sheets.

Need a break from the kids? Send them down the spiral staircase through the office and into a cozy family room with an electronic piano, a large TV, a dining or game table for 6 with an array of family-friendly games and a queen sofa bed.  There are two more bedrooms off this family room, which share a full bathroom with two sinks and a tub/shower combination. One has a queen bed and one has a full bed.  Both beds downstairs are Select Comfort beds so you can set the firmness to your preference. 

Additional info you won’t get by looking at pictures

All bedrooms have individual heating and cooling units with adjustable fans, black out window treatments, extra pillows, comforters and luxurious 1,500 thread count sheets. Dine al fresco at the dining table on the deck attached to the house or down by the pool. The rectangular 24,000 gallon pool is 4 feet deep and has an auto controlled pool cover. It’s heated by solar but there is also an additional pool heater which we will turn on for $75 a day. The spa has its own heater at no additional cost. For your convenience, there is a composting toilet out by the pool in a little grey A-Frame house. There is nothing like BBQing in the great outdoors. You will find a large gas BBQ out by the pool, along with a refrigerator and a table for 6. I guarantee you will love our refreshing purified mountain well water! Solar panels provide electricity for the house.

The lovely white gazebo is the perfect area for weddings with a large area in front to set up about 80 chairs and there is parking for 25 cars by the red barn on the left as you drive up to the house.

Experiences

This is a perfect location to get away from it all, “recharge your batteries,” and connect with nature. But there is also plenty to do in Julian. Apple Days kicks off the fall season with apple picking, pumpkin patches, hay rides, and Julian's famous apple pie and cider. Celebrate the winter holidays by shopping in the charming stores with their western storefronts, sledding down the mountain side, and cuddling up with family and friends in front of the large stone fireplace. February is the time that Julian abounds with Daffodils and Anza Borrego Desert State Park, just 45 minutes away, comes alive with blooming cactus and wildflowers. Bring your binoculars for spectacular bird watching, and see if you can catch a glimpse of the big horned sheep that roam the rocky mountain slopes. In spring the mountains are awash with Lilacs. Summer months are perfect for wine stomping and beer tasting or spending a day at Lake Cuyamaca which has a delightful lakefront restaurant with a large outdoor deck, boat rental, fishing and walking trails where you might spot the pair of resident bald eagles.

If the fresh air entices you to explore Julian's mountain wilderness areas by foot, you will find an abundance of great hiking trails in Cuyamaca State Park, on Volcan Mountain and the Santa Ysabel West and East trails.

Vacation rentals in San Diego are for the most part, second homes for the owners. Therefore, some furniture or decor may differ from what is pictured because the owners needed or wanted to replace something. Professional photos are expensive and we can not re-photograph the rental every time something is changed but we do maintain the listing content with any notable furnishing changes especially related to sleeping arrangements. (*Please note: We do not give refunds because a piece of furniture or artwork has changed)

If you have never stayed in a vacation rental before, we are not a hotel, WE ARE BETTER! We offer many of the same luxuries of a hotel with the comfort and space of home to share with your whole family. Our property owners are our friends and we work with each owner to offer a special, specific and ideal environment for guests to experience and enjoy. All of our homes offer similar amenities so you can expect the same experience whenever staying with us. 

With that said, we need you to do your part in helping us maintain each home. Please be attentive to ALL RESPONSIBILITIES as a guest of our home. Trash/Recycling, Check-out duties, Communication to management and Care of the home all help us give each guest and family a home to feel at home in. We appreciate your assistance in making our homes and our business unlike any other!

*Pool heat is an additional cost of $75/day. We can only provide pool heat from Memorial Day until the end of October for the pool and hot tub Payment must be received before the heat can be turned on. 

Please note: the pool heats about 1 degree per hour. 

We like our guests to feel at home as soon as they arrive! We provide a ‘starter kit’ to help our guests get settled without needing to rush off to the store. 

Our kits include: paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner, soap, linens, towels, kitchen sponges, dish soap, laundry detergent and fabric softener, dishwasher soap when applicable, trash bags, either Keurig coffee makers with k-cups or standard coffee makers, extra blankets, sometimes extra pillows, extra sheets-for sleeper sofas, hair dryers, ironing boards, kitchens fully stocked-enough for max occupancy with some extra settings, toasters, some waffle makers, blenders, tool kits, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, co2/fire detectors, and most homes have heat available. 

While on vacation, we want our guests to enjoy their vacation to the fullest and we feel in order for our guests to do this, they should also feel informed. Our emails serve to educate you on your vacation rental home, the surrounding area, responsibilities, what to expect and how to get in touch with us. We respect your privacy so our emails help provide you with all you need to know to reference as you please. 

In addition, most of our properties have House Manuals detailing specific information about the property, amenities and responsibilities. Not to mention an awesome section on attractions, events, restaurants and more to help guide you during your stay in San Diego.
